Collaborate with experts to help achieve safety through shared goals of increasing well being in our neighborhoods because of our commitment to work together and help each other.
The Alameda County Sheriff’s Department, Fire Department, and Office of Emergency Services support neighborhood watch groups by offering training, resources and assistance. At each of our community meetings in San Lorenzo these leaders are invited to attend and provide current information and strategies to reduce crime, enhance a safer Village community and to provide requested training for disaster preparedness.
Our point of contact with our local Sheriff’s Department is with the CORE* unit. Our Sergeant and deputies provide security and law enforcement services we need for events and trainings. You may see them in your neighborhood with our Block Lead “Walk with a Deputy” program we have developed to meet the SLVNW goals we have established.
*Community Oriented Response and Engagement (CORE) and it is a Unit of the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office.
The office of Emergency Services has been critical to our team of resident volunteers in establishing our San Lorenzo Village Neighborhood Watch Program. Education and training is the strength of OES with the materials they provide to block leads and residents in the Village. The trainings help with being prepared in the event of a disaster and they team up with our local Fire Department with the tools and resources they have developed so we, as a household, neighborhood or a area wide community, can best be prepared. ACFD
THE ALAMEDA COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT provides all-risk emergency services to our unincorporated areas of Alameda County (excluding Fairview) as well as to cities in Alameda County.
The Alameda County Fire Department offers a variety of trainings to provide community members with the tools and resources to become better prepared and self-sufficient during a large scale emergency or disaster.
Our San Lorenzo Fire Station 22 is approved for a new location at 587 Paseo Grande, just a block away from it’s current location. Construction is scheduled to begin in August of 2026. This larger 7,700 sf single story building is designed to better handle the varied emergency needs of our local community. It will also include a 2,000 sf pre-engineered apparatus storage building on the larger site.

“The key to the success of our Neighborhood Watch Program is that individuals develop a kind of “ownership” of the their neighborhood and a relationship with the Alameda County Sheriff’s office. This closer relationship helps to foster the free flow or exchange of information where people can communicate with a deputy about anything that goes on in their neighborhood. Involvement with our Alameda County deputies assigned as a liaison to our SLVNW group of volunteers has been vital to the goals of keeping our community safer.
“Walk with a Deputy” is one of the many ways our Block Leads help to introduce neighbors on their block to the benefits of participating in our Neighborhood Watch program here in San Lorenzo Village.

OES
The Alameda County Office of Emergency Services (OES)
This office coordinates emergency services in Alameda County, California. The OES works with other county and state agencies to prepare for and respond to emergencies.
Alameda County OES is located in Dublin, California. It is our hub central to execute our county preparedness for any type of disaster as well as communicate needs to our community during a crisis. Prior to a crisis they help to prepare the community to be ready, equipped and able.
The mission of Alameda County OES is to prepare this County (14 Cities, and Special Districts) to respond to all disasters and emergencies. OES prepares in order to minimize the loss of lives, destruction to property and damage to the environment while ensuring continuity of government services to be able to serve citizens while helping the county to recover.
